Pågående forskningsprojekt

Elisabeths forskningsprofil är demenssjukdomar och pedagogisk forskning kring sjuksköterskerollen. Pågående projekt rör främst den ärftliga demenssjukdomen Huntingtons sjukdom. Dels studeras de närståendes problem och behov av stöd vid Huntingtons sjukdom i samarbete med Michaela Karlstedt, Ersta Sköndal Bräcke högskola.

I ett annat projekt studeras psykosociala konsekvenser av att få beskedet att vara anlagsbärare eller inte vara anlagsbärare till Huntingtons sjukdom. Personer som genomgått ett genetiskt anlagstest har intervjuats minst 5 år efter testresultatet och projektet genomförs i samarbete med Dr. Anette Hagberg, Uppsala universitet och Dr. The-Hung Bui, Karolinska universitetssjukhuset.

Ett tredje projekt gäller aggressivt beteende hos personer med Huntingtons sjukdom. Ett mätinstrument avseende avvikande aggressivt beteende har tagits fram och ska valideras och reliabilitetstestas. Mätinstrumentet har tagits fram för att kartlägga det aggressiva beteendet och planeras att användas som ett hjälpmedel för att utvärdera effekten av såväl medicinska som omvårdnadsinterventioner samt vara underlag för riskbedömning för både patient, personal och övriga patienter. Projektet sker i samarbete med Michaela Karlstedt, Ersta Sköndal Bräcke högskola och Sara Nyman, Karolinska Institutet.

Ett pedagogiskt projekt pågår också, där sjuksköterskor med utländsk sjuksköterskeexamen studeras vad gäller deras transition till den svenska sjuksköterskerollen. Studien syftar till att utveckla kompletteringsutbildningen som finns för dessa sjuksköterskor så att övergången underlättas. Projektet genomförs i samarbete med Dr. Rebecca Popenoe, Ulrika Södergren och Agneta Öhlén, Institutionen för neurobiologi, vårdvetenskap och samhälle, Karolinska Institutet.
